NICO si VLAD MIRITA - Pe-o margine de lume

One of the best ones of these 7 new 'selections'. Both can clearly sing very well.. very nice start but a bit too much afterwards (would prefer a bit less 'lady shouting')

I think he should sing a solo :-P

UKRAINE - ANI LORAK - SHADY LADY

I like this well enough, exciting music and clear voice.
The guy's costumes are quite interesting. I wish the video was clearer :-P

Could be good with a totally different choreography (a bit more structure in it)

Belgium - Last selection round before semi-finals
Following two have been selected by televoting to go to the semi-finals :
First place for Sandrine - I feel the same way
Great singing and very good song, but maybe not 'commercial' enough for Eurovision Contest ? My personal favorite.

Sandrine - I feel the same way
I like this one, she has a nice sultry voice.
February 18, 2008 2:22 PM
Second place for Paranoiacs - Shout it Out
Not bad in it's own way. I would not have selected it, but that way we have a mix of 'a little bit of everything' in the semi-finals.

Second place for Paranoiacs - Shout it Out
Not bad for sound but no treat for the eyes :-)

Following 2 songs/performers from all 4 selection rounds received a wildcard from the jury and also have their ticket to the semi-finals :
A Butterfly Mind - Lonely Heart on Wheels
Very nice song & singing, but would either be squeezed by all 'noisy acts' either get attention for the softness ?

A Butterfly Mind - Lonely Heart on Wheels
Very sweet pleasant song I like the harmony sound but I am sure something with more PUNCH will be chosen.

Tabitha Cycon - Rumour Has it
I like her voice and great singing, but song is not for Eurovision and they have to work a lot to have a better act.

Tabitha Cycon - Rumour Has it
I don't care much for this style of music, sort of cross between Rock-a-Billy and Jazz.

Mor Ve Ötesi - Deli - Turkey
Not bad, but I would like it a lot more with less guitar (a bit too noisy, draws the attention away from the singing).
canadaguy said...
Yes very loud and noisy, some of that though is the recording of this clip, some of the others are clearer and not so harsh sounding.

Belgium - 3rd selection round
Nelson - When I Can't find love
This one ended at first place and was also the one I prefer. Good singing, love song, cute boy but maybe it could get a bit 'boring' at the end.

Nelson-When I Can't Find Love
Yes a sweet song, nice to listen to but not very exciting show.
February 11, 2008 10:04 AM
Geena Lisa - Wheel of Time
Singing is ok - catchy sound - good message but there is something about it that makes that I'm not realy 'into it'. Maybe because it's strange to see Geena Lisa singing/acting this way.

Geena Lisa - Wheel of Time
Good song, like the music and that instrument the guy is cranking odd costumes those shoulder fringes and metal corsets:-)

Norway - Maria Haukaas Storeng - Hold On Be Strong

Nice melody and pleasant to listen to but not strong enough to win.

Very nice. I also like this one ... very smooth & soft. But indeed probably not dynamic/strong enough to win.

Reminds me a bit of Hungary last year, and I think they got some points. It certainly is a big difference with Natalia Barbu they sent last year (which I liked a lot)

Belgium - 2nd selection round
Out of the 5 participants of yesterday the following 2 got most votes (and also my preferences) :
Imaginary language - Original and the way they perform brings a lot of positive/good mood. Could be good if all other songs are more 'noisy' ones.
canadaguy said...
Pleasant and happy sounding.Glad to know there are still
vooronde 3;4+5 ;-)
February 4, 2008 11:31 AM
No special song, but this kind of songs always is refreshing and could have success at Eurovision contest. But will other countries not send better ones ? I do not really understand the link between the lyrics and the dancers (and dancers kissing), but maybe done to get the 'gay votes'. Nice that this one goes to semi-finals, but I think it will have difficulties to reach the finals.
canadaguy said...
OK! 12 points to the dancers :-P hahahaha
